 LETTER
 FROM THE
CHAIR
DEAR FRIENDS OF THE ALS COMMUNITY,
I am honored to introduce myself as the new Board Chair of the ALS Association CT Chapter. The fight to defeat ALS is one that is near and dear to my heart.
In 2018, I was introduced to the Chapter when my brother, Jeff, was diagnosed with ALS. When he passed just two years
later, I made a commitment to him to continue this fight. I am grateful to lead this organization alongside the entire Board of Directors and staff in providing support and care to others, just like the Chapter did for my family.
When my brother was diagnosed, every moment became so special. Big
or small, these moments became lasting memories for us all. The ALS Association adopted the campaign Every Moment Matters- a simple slogan, but like so many others affected by ALS, it means so much to me. The
CT Chapter can help create these moments through our programs and services thanks to the incredible support of our community. I can tell you personally that the Chapter’s services were critical for Jeff in maintaining the highest possible quality of life and making moments that matter through his struggle with the disease.
Like the rest of the world, our Chapter faced challenges presented by
the pandemic, but we adjusted, inspired by the strength and resilience shown by families each and every day. We provided services to over 381 individuals living with ALS and their families. We continued to partner with clinics, neurologists, hospices, VNAs, and other healthcare agencies to establish care plans that improve a person’s quality of life. And, helped to create moments.
There were so many moments that would not be possible without your support. Our transportation program provided rides to baseball games, concerts, and weddings. We sent summer fun boxes filled with therapeutic activities and books to children with a parent or grandparent living with ALS. The Equipment Program, including the newly added ramp and stair lift program, allowed people with ALS to be safe in their homes and attend family and community events.
Thank you for supporting those affected by ALS in our state, national advocacy efforts, and research for treatments and a cure. It is with your help that we can continue to make Every Moment Matter, while fighting for the day where we will live in a world without ALS.
Thank you,
Peter Corbett | Chair, Board of Directors
