On November 13th, we had the pleasure of hosting a group of students from Junior Achievement for a job shadow experience at Peralta Design. The students spent the day interacting with Ramon and our team leads, learning about Web Development, Branding, and Digital Marketing. After gaining valuable insights from our team, the day wrapped up with a hands-on assignment where the students reflected on what they had learned throughout the experience.

We were thrilled to receive positive feedback from MaryLu Matott, MSAP College and Career Placement Facilitator at P-TECH Norwalk, who praised the opportunity: “The opportunity to engage with your team and learn in a real-world setting is invaluable and will undoubtedly shape their career paths and aspirations. Your team’s insight into web design, branding, and marketing was truly eye-opening.”

What the Students Learned

Our job shadow day provided the students with a deeper understanding of the different elements involved in launching a successful brand. Here are some key takeaways:

The Power of Branding and Marketing:

Many students were fascinated by how important branding is to a business’s success. One student shared, “Branding shapes how people perceive a business, and learning how psychology plays a role in digital marketing was fascinating. Trends, design, and even the right messaging all have an impact on how people interact with a brand.”

Team Dynamics and Real-World Applications:

“It was amazing to see how every team plays an integral part in a project’s process,” said one student. “I got to see how the web development, branding, and marketing teams work together to bring a client’s vision to life. The collaboration between these fields gave me a better sense of the work environment I’d like to be in.”

Consistency in Branding:

The students also learned the importance of consistency in branding. “Branding needs to be consistent across all platforms and touchpoints,” explained one student. “It’s not just about creating a logo—it’s about shaping a brand’s identity through every interaction.

Career Aspirations: What Teams Interested Them Most

By the end of the day, the students had a clearer sense of where their interests lie in the world of digital design:

Web Team:

“I’ve always been interested in coding, and the web team was the most appealing to me. I love the process of learning new coding languages, and it’s exciting to think about being part of a team that builds functional, user-friendly websites.”

Digital Team:

“I’d be most interested in the digital team because of the variety and creativity involved. Social media and digital marketing offer a chance to create something that has a real-time impact, and I’d love to help clients connect with their audiences.”

Brand Team:

“The creative side of branding really stood out to me. I have a passion for graphic design, and I think the brand team would allow me to explore and grow in that area. It’s all about creating a consistent visual story for clients, and that’s something I’d love to be a part of.”

A Lasting Impression

Hosting these bright, ambitious students was a rewarding experience for everyone at Peralta Design. It was inspiring to see how engaged they were in learning about the different aspects of branding, web development, and digital marketing. The experience was not only informative but also helped shape their career aspirations and provided a glimpse into the real-world applications of these fields.

We’re excited to continue supporting future talent through opportunities like this and look forward to seeing these students achieve great things in their careers. Thank you to Junior Achievement for organizing this experience, and we’re proud to continue fostering the next generation of leaders!
