On Tuesday, October 12th, the Greater New England Minority Supplier Development Council (GNEMSDC) launched the Connecticut Satellite office of the Massachusetts MBDA Business Center.
As a proud member of the GNEMSDC and client of the MBDA, Peralta Design was honored to host the celebration of the Center. The guest of honor Senator Richard Blumenthal, a long-standing champion of minority business development and advocate of the MBDA Act of 2021, visited the office.
The Senator stated, “This investment in another MBDA center will enable more minority businesses to get off the ground and do it in a smart strategic way.”
The GNEMSDC was awarded a five-year grant of $2 million to operate the center by the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA), which is a part of the U.S Department of Commerce and the only federal agency focused on minority business development.
The Massachusetts MBDA Business Center will help support small and medium-sized minority-owned businesses and have a satellite office located in New Haven, Connecticut. At no cost to its clients, it will provide business development services with public sector and private sector buyers, expert assistance, and capacity building services. These services include financial management, strategic planning, marketing, process improvement, assistance with mergers and acquisitions, and assistance with access to all types of capital.
“This grant is a catalyst which will provide the technological capacity, managerial capacity, financial capacity, and the kind of consulting expertise that is necessary for small businesses to make the right decisions as they start.” – Senator Richard Blumenthal
